American Moviegoers Hate The American
by Jake Ziegler on September 7, 2010

It’s not often that the number one movie in America is hated by the very audience that made it number one. Studio Briefing reports that “today’s (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times, citing exit surveys by market research firm CinemaScore, noted that those older than 25 (who accounted for 88 percent of the film’s audience) and all women (who accounted for 45 percent) gave the film an F. The average grade for all ticket buyers was a D-.”

I think it’s because marketing led people to believe this would be an action filled spy movie like the “Bourne” series but instead it was a quiet, moody character piece and American audiences can’t pay attention unless something is blowing up every five seconds. But that’s just me.
