Craig Robinson and two others cast in Peeples.

Casting News, News, Projects

Craig Robinson got his real first notice as Darryl on the American Office. Now, after several supporting roles in hit comedies like Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri and Hot Tub Time Machine (just to name a few), Robinson has been cast in his first starring role.

Robinson, along with Kerry Washington and David Alan Grier have signed on to appear in the comedy We The Peeples.

Tina Gordon Chism (Drumline) wrote the screenplay and will also be taking the directors chair for the first time.

Robinson will play a child psychologist who shows up unannounced at his girlfriend’s (Washington) political family’s annual get-together at their Sag Harbor vacation home. Once there he realizes he’s in way over his head as he finds them all desperately in need of therapy.

The film is set to start shooting in Connecticut in November.

Ever since seeing Robinson in Pineapple I have been a huge fan of his and have enjoyed everything I’ve seen him in. He was one of the best parts of Hot Tub and I’ll pretty much see anything he does. I’m very excited to see him get a starring role like this.

Plus Grier is always good for a laugh.

Chime in: Do you think this will be a good first leading role for Robinson?
