Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Slumber Party – DVD Review

DVD Reviews, Reviews

Getting your kids to get to sleep isn’t the most welcome of chores. When they’re really little, you dump them in the crib and let them scream it out until they pass out. This simple solution doesn’t work too well when they outgrow bars on their bed. At that point bed times resemble a game of jailbreak. Thanks to social services, you’re extremely limited in ways to get bedtime working so you can enjoy precious adult time. Sometimes you have to resort to guile in the form of children’s programing. Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Slumber Party makes bedtime a funtime for little ones.

The Nickelodeon series is about a little girl named Dora that goes on little adventures. She relies on viewers to help her find stuff on the screen. Her best chum is Boots the Monkey. He’s monkey that wears boots, but no other articles of clothing. You’ll have plenty of discussions later about why your child has to wear pants and a shirt when they put on their boots. The DVD has Dora, Boots and other pals venturing into six slumber oriented episodes

“Boots’s Cuddly Dinosaur” is a missing toy mystery. Boots can’t get to sleep until he locates the stuffed dinosaur. “Louder” complicates life when the sun won’t wake up. The rooster won’t crow. Dora needs to get things shining so we can all wake up. Who still wakes up to roosters? “The Lost City” makes Dora the victim of stuffed animal abduction. She can’t get to sleep without her teddy bear.

“Little Star” involves putting a star back up in the night sky. You have to make sure she goes to the right. “Super Babies’ Dream Adventure” opens with Dora and Boots putting babies in their crib. After that simple moment, things get weird with the babies flying with super powers. Even though the babies can zoom around, they prefer to be pushed in their stroller. “Dora Had a Little Lamb” makes her enter a world of fairytales. She’s got find Mary’s little lamb with your help.

Hopefully your kids will quickly be worn out by watching Dora and her friend. They get so excited about going to bed since you have found their stuffed animals. There’s no excuse for watching these episodes without a small child blocking your view of the TV set. Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Slumber Party ought to be a snoozer.

The video is 1.33:1 full frame. The transfers look fine. The image is sharp enough to always detect what Dora needs. The audio is Dolby Digital Stereo. You might want to turn it down since Dora’s voice gets loud.

None.

Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Slumber Party brings on the sleepy time. Little kids are taught the importance of going to sleep after they help her find lost objects. Do not confuse this with other titles that include Slumber Party in the title. This series is meant only for kids.
