Ryan Reynolds Talks About The Source Material For The Green Lantern Movie

“Geoff Johns is it. His ‘Secret Origins’ book is what I use as the bible for this. It’s an easy thing to reference because it’s an origin story as well, so that was the source material I stuck to.”

As far as origin stories go, Johns rendition of Hal’s origin really is the best choice. It sets up a lot going forward without overwhelming. It should prove to be accessible to new fans while still telling a story enjoyable to those who do know the mythos.

Not to mention that it’s so much better than Emerald Dawn I and II from the 90’s. I mean, rednecks using power rings to make beer, and then Hal going to jail for a DUI. Yeah, I can live without that one being mentioned again.
