British welterweight Paul Daley will face Scott Smith on the main card of Showtime’s December 4th Henderson vs. Babalu. Not only will it be Daley’s first fight for the San Jose promotion since 2007 but it will see Smith drop down to welterweight for the first time. The move to 170Ibs comes as Smith tries to rebound after losing to Cung Le in June, while for Daley the fight represents the next step in his comeback after being fired by the UFC for sucker-punching Josh Koscheck after their fight at UFC113. Given the two fighters all-action styles, Daley vs. Smith really has the potential to be an absolute war and could easily be one of the fights of the year.
