Cycling News: Alberto Contador Blames Bad Meat For Positive Test

News

Contador won this year’s Tour de France despite the bad meat.

Contador reportedly failed a drug test on July 21 during the tour and was made aware of the positive test in August. The substance he tested positive for was clenbuteral, which is an asthma medication as well as being given to animals to promote growth.

Contador is claiming the latter is what happened with him. He said the team chef had some beef brought in from Spain because the quality of meat at the hotel where the team was staying was not very good.

“On the 26th we talked at length about how all this had happened. The UCI itself told me to my face that it was a case of food contamination,” Contador said.
