NFL News: Washinton Redskins RB Clinton Portis Out At Least One Month

Portis will be sidelined for a while with a bad groin.

Washington Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced that Portis has a third-degree seperation of the groin with the groin being torn off the bone. Shanahan estimated the recovery time at 4-6 weeks.

Portis has run for only 195 yards on 49 carries this season and he is 109 yards shy of 10,000 for his career and is 680 away from breaking John Riggins’ franchise rushing record.

The Redskins will turn to Ryan Torain and Chad Simpson to handle the running back duties, the two have a combined 70 career carries.
