NFL News: Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutlers Will Not Play Against Panthers

News

The Bears made the announcement on Thursday.

The Chicago Bears announced that QB Jay Cutler had not recovered enough from his concussion to risk playing him against the Carolina Panthers. The Bears will turn to Todd Collins to start on Sunday.

The Bears said Cutler was examined by team and independent doctors and the group came to the conclusion that Cutler was ok to practice on a limited basis, but sitting out this weekends game was probably the right way to treat the injury.

This will be the first game of Cutler’s career that he has missed due to injury. He had started 57 straight games since the Broncos turned to him as a rookie in 2006.
