Psych Episode 5-10 Review

Shows, Top Story

Psych is back! To start off the second half of the fifth season, we were brought back to the season 4 premiere  episode Extradition: British Columbia. That episode left us with infamous art thief Pierre Despereaux promising that he would return. He made good on his promise in this week’s Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part.

Flashback: In a rare moment for Psych, this week’s episode did not have a flashback to little Shawn and Gus. Instead we were given a recap to Extradition” British Columbia to refresh us on what happened the last time we encountered Despereaux.

The Case: I was not a huge fan of the first episode featuring Despereaux. It was okay but not one that I would watch over and over again like say American Duos. So obviously, I wasn’t that thrilled for him to be returning, thinking it would leave me feeling the same as the other one. I was pleasantly surprised, I liked this episode a lot. I enjoyed not being able to tell whether or not to trust Despereaux, since in good mysteries you should not know who can be trusted. They did a good job with it this time. Everytime another person got murdered I had a feeling of okay Despereuax is the killer, but maybe not. Of course in the end I’m glad Despereuax wasn’t the killer because like Shawn, I am starting to like him too. Hopefully, he will return for an Extradition part three, even if we have to wait another season or two.

Another thing I loved about this episode was that Shules is progressing. Before our midseason break, we were left with that huge cliffhanger kiss between Shawn and Juliet. To answer our burning question, Juliet has left Declan afterall leaving space available for Shawn to finally make his move. The end of this episode had the cutest and most awkward romance scene in Psych history. Hopefully, Decan won’t come back and screw it up for them now.

Favorite Quote: Shawn has a bit of a problem being straightforward when it comes to anything serious with women he likes, but the way he tells Juliet that he is ready to be with her would make any women’s heart melt.

Shawn: Can I say what I came here to say please? I have a motorcycle

Jules: Yes, you do

Shawn: Yes I do, and you know what? It is…it is the purest form of freedom that I have ever experienced. You zip through traffic, you park anywhere, you never have to take anyone to the airport, you certainly don’t have to help anyone move. Easily the best purchase I’ve ever made in my life and I have never regretted it, not for one second.

Jules: Great, you love your motorcycle. Is there a point?

Shawn: Yeah, there is a point. The point is, since I’ve met you I…I’ve been thinking about getting a car.

Coming up: After witnessing a murder while on a haunted house ride at Santa Barbara’s Scare Fest, Shawn and Gus believe the killer was a ghost of someone who fell to his death at Scare Fest 13 years ago. A little late for Halloween, but it sounds good.
