Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Announced, Debut Trailer At VGA’s

Entertainment Weekly (EW.com) is the destination for first impressions of Naughty Dog’s sequel to the 2009 Game of the Year, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. With over 3.8 million copies sold worldwide and a feature film currently in development, Sony PlayStation’s exclusive platform franchise looks to be bigger and bolder in 2011.

When EW visited the Santa Monica offices of Naughty Dog, they got quite a sneak peek that had those in attendance wishing for the game now, rather than late next year.

Rather than dish too much, just know that this installment is all about deception and where our hero, Nathan Drake, is either being deceived or is himself deceiving someone. The relationship between Drake and his treasure-seeking buddy/mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan, will also be a big theme in this threequel as their adventure takes them to the Arabian Peninsula. (It is said the adventure draws inspiration from T.E. Lawrence’s early years as an archaeologist – pre-Lawrence of Arabia.)

The article goes on to explain how James Cameron’s Avatar had a profound influence on the development of Drake’s Deception, and that Naughty Dog wants to take on the Call of Duty series in terms of multi-player gameplay.

The trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be officially revealed this weekend at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.

I like Comics, Wrestling, Super Mario Bros & Dead Space. Oh ya, and Scott Pilgrim.
