Inception Sets New Milestone for Blu-ray Sales

News

Sorry Twi-hards, your beloved home video release of Eclipse is no longer top dog (or is it wolf?) on the sales chart. The new top-selling disc for the week ended December 12th is Warner Home Video’s Inception. A highly successful blockbuster at theaters this summer, Christopher Nolan’s film surely put audiences in a dreamlike state on its way to collecting more than $825 million worldwide.

Nearly 65% of its total disc sales were from the Blu-ray edition.

The figure, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, is a new record for Blu-ray vs. DVD sales for a first-week release. The previous record was 52% for Iron Man 2 a few months ago.
