Trailer Watch: Your Highness with Danny McBride and James Franco

David Gordon Green is on a roll. 2008 he released two films, Snow Angels and Pineapple Express, both totally dissimilar from each other but loaded with talent. He also dabbled in TV with HBO’s Eastbound and Down starring Danny McBride. Next year he returns to the big screen with Your Highness, a double entendre of a comedy set in medieval times that features a Black Swan, a Green Goblin, and Kenny Powers.

When Prince Fabious’ (James Franco) bride (Zooey Deschanel) is kidnapped by an evil wizard, he sets out on a quest to rescue her, and is accompanied by his lazy brother Thadeous (McBride). Of course, with a title like Your Highness you expect kings and queens, but when you learn that McBride’s character has a pot addiction, the title is all the more clever. Joining Fabious and Thadeous on their quest is Natalie Portman as a sexy ass-kicking maiden. I’m loving the cast and the ridiculousness that comes from hearing their lines in stuffy English accents.

Universal’s Your Highness will hit theaters on April 8, 2011 and will be matched against 20th Century Fox’s animated Rio and the Joe Wright thriller Hanna.

Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world—Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancee before their kingdom is destroyed.
