Kue’s Korner: No Daniel Bryan Left Behind

Columns, Top Story

Why, hello there, ladies and gents. Step inside the kind caverns of Kue’s Korner. I’m your most humble, yet most awesome host, Jonah Kue. This week, I’ve dropped a bit of the eccentricities to bring a disturbing trend to light. So, before we get to the article, friends, let’s, as the kids say, pimp my ish:

We’ve come to marvel at the technical prowess and unmatched ring savvy of Daniel Bryan in the past few years. For him to hit the mainstream audience this year and solidify himself the way he has speaks volumes for the importance of actual wrestling as opposed to simply sports entertainment. To be honest, I’ve never been unexcited while watching a Bryan match. With all this said, why do I feel a dwindling feeling when it comes to his immediate future in the WWE?

Bryan’s established his character well enough, doing only the simplest of things: putting his genuine personality out there. It was refreshing, after getting a taste of archetypes amplified (how’s that for an AA), to see a guy who can wrestle, was an indy darling, and therefore, had the perspective of an independent viewing a big name company. The appreciation of a wider audience coupled with the caution of not losing the original scope he came in with did wonders for, not only the IWC, but also the newer fans who were in shallow waters. It came to enlighten many of them.

So, now, with the capability to really put some depth into the mainstream world of wrestling, as well as balance the importance of actual matches with the sports-entertainment side of the spectrum, Daniel Bryan’s greatest adversaries are….the Bellas.

Look, I know the WWE isn’t pulling any triggers when it comes to Bryan main eventing any time soon. I may be a bit impatient for it as well. But for him to not be in a storyline with people that can deliver, or that he can help cultivate (I’m looking at you, Teddy) is a damn shame. I hope we see an end to this Bella angle soon, for Bryan’s sake as well as our own.

Adieu.

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
