Gonzalez had a monster year and has now agreed to a monster extension.

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a 7-year $80 million contract extension after Gonzalez put up a .336 average with 36 HRs and 117 RBIs last season and finished 3rd in the MVP voting behind Joey Votto and Albert Pujols.

“It’s not at all finalized. But everything is practically concluded. All that’s left are the physical evaluations,” said Gonzalez according to Meridiano Television in Venezuela.

Gonzalez is the second Rockies player to agree to an extension this offseason, the Rockies and SS Troy Tulowitzki agreed to a 10-year $157.75 million extension in November.
