MLB News: Texas Rangers Close To Deal With Adrian Beltre

News

The Rangers are reportedly close to signing Adrian Beltre to a 6-year contract.

Adrian Beltre and the Texas Rangers are reportedly close to a 6-year $96 million contract. The deal is more likely a 5-year deal with a vesting option for the 6th year.

Beltre led the American League in doubles last year and added 28 homers, hitting .321/.365/.553 in 641 plate appearances with the Boston Red Sox. Beltre plays outstanding defense to go along with the offensive numbers he put up last year.

If the Rangers do sign Beltre, Michael Young would likely be shifted to a DH/Utility role or possibly be traded.
