More Of Geoff Johns’ FLASHPOINT Puzzle With Final Crisis, Hot Pursuit, Reverse-Flash?

News

… and more to be revealed on January 26, 2011 when both Geoff Johns’ Flash #9 and Dan Jurgens’ Time Masters: Vanishing Point #6 “coincidentally” ;) ship on the same date.

Looks like we’ll learn more about Hot Pursuit’s role (he’s the new Ghost Rider like Speed Force character) in FLASHPOINT, plus his actual identity. There is rampant speculation that this character will be a time-displaced brother of the Reverse Flash that he seemingly wiped out of existence in Flash #8. Check out our review here.

Looks like FLASHPOINT may also include the Fifth World “New Gods” of Grant Morrison’s Final Crisis. Will “evil still win”? Is Darkseid back? Check out the cover to Time Masters: Vanishing Point 6 on the above left. Can dead really mean dead in the post Blackest Night DC Universe when time travel is involved?

Also appears that the Speed Force is connected to the Time Stream in some way too. Does that mean we’ll get more of the revived Anti-Monitor who has been laying dormant since Blackest Night? He was the one whose actions lead to Barry Allen’s death in the first place in the 1980’s Crisis on Infinite Earths? DC has brought him back for “big things” afterall.

Geoff Johns ALWAYS goes big in his event comics. So will we have Darkseid, the Reverse Flash AND the Anti-Monitor has the big bads of FLASHPOINT? That could make sense with Batman’s foil being Darkseid (Final Crisis payback?), Flash’s being Reverse Flash, and the Anti-Monitor being Superman’s (see original Crisis of Infinite Earths image to the right although, “yes”, he was referring to a different Superman…). Hmmm. (And, where-o-where is “Superboy: Prime”, Geoff Johns’ fave plaything?) We’ll know more in only 21 days. :) Stay tuned.
