Spoiler Warning: Boston Brand’s Day Off In Brightest Day #17

Spoilers

When Dove wakes up alone, she finds Boston shirtless in the kitchen cooking, which makes it pretty obvious what was going on the previous night. She tells him that she has class all day, but Boston informs her that he asked Oracle to see if anyone from his family was still alive. He didn’t expect anyone to be, but the grandfather we found out about a few issues ago is not only alive, but ninety-eight years old. Boston feels guilty going to see him, having not done so much when he was still alive and thinking that his grandfather might not even remember him.

Going to see him, Boston’s grandfather tells the nurse that his grandson is dead, but looking at Boston the old man tears up at the reality that his grandson is alive and right in front of him. It’s a pretty moving scene.

Boston then takes his grandfather out for a motorcycle ride, as the old man hasn’t ridden since before Boston was born, and prior to that held a world record for a motorcycle jump. They go on their ride, and Boston uses his ring to make a ramp for them to jump off as the two of the time of their lives….

And then the ring starts charging.

Living his life to the fullest charges the ring?
