Kue’s Korner: An Eye for the New Year; CM Punk and John Cena

Columns, Top Story

So, after all the streamers, the ball drops, the hoohah, we gracefully enter this year’s first Kue’s Korner, your one-stop shop to an elegantly-layered, yet-packed-with-the-action column in this raunchy world of ‘Rasslin’. I’m your….dashing host, Jonah Kue, and I’ve got to say, after witnessing the first Monday night of the year, this boy is rather ecstatic at the possibilities of ’11. So, let’s address the obvious topics that have already been touched on, or will be in the following few days.

By far, the greatest thing the WWE has going for it now is our straight-edge hero, CM Punk. His character is rather archetype, but what’s hit me as an enigma is the fan reaction to him. He’s done nothing but speak the truth about his opponents, laid out the appropriate actions to take part in, and basically made the most sense out of every Superstar in the company.

Sure, we’ve become privy to some of his heinous acts (Happy Birthday), but they were mainly to get him over as a heel. Yet, when he’s simply pointing out the hypocrisies of some of the cherished heroes, he is booed relentlessly. What an interesting conversation on idol worship. And it’s this intricate symbolism that makes anything that Punk is involved in such a captivating piece.

I trust that the lavender-laden John Cena will be back by the Rumble. At least, my hopes lie in that direction. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way a Cena mark, but this close to the prime of Vince’s year, Wrestlemania, would seem vacant to many an eye without the biggest draw.

Now, I know we’ve all got our predictions and hearsay about the upcoming stories weaving into this little Road for the next three months, and trust me, your eyes will grace my assumptions soon enough. But for now, I will leave you with this simple little disclosure: I’m rather excited to be a wrestling fan this year. More excited than I’ve been in a long time.

Adieu.

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
