Roy Nelson vs Frank Mir & Rampage Jackson vs Thiago Silva For UFC 130

The UFC’s annual Memorial Day weekend show in Vegas is shaping up to be a big one with MMA Junkie reporting that two huge matches have been made for UFC 130.

The first pits two huge figures on the Vegas fight and grappling scene against each other with charismatic heavyweights Roy Nelson and Frank Mir finally meeting inside the Octagon. The two have previous with Nelson defeating Mir in a Grapplers Quest match back in 2003 and Mir has publicly criticised Nelson for failing to get in shape. That the match has been made confirms that the UFC has been able to help Nelson put his recent contractual problems behind him.

The other match pits high profile light heavyweight Rampage Jackson against the always dangerous Thiago Silva. Jackson is coming off a close victory against Lyoto Machida and despite his celebrity is seemingly getting no favours from Joe Silva and Dana White.

The other fight that has been rumored for UFC 130 is the rematch between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard for the World Lightweight Title, with ESPN MMA Live’s Twitter reporting on Friday that the fight is a possibility for May 28th.
