Director David Fincher will re-team with his Social Network score composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the filmmaker’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. In a Live Stream interview with The New York Times, Reznor revealed that he and his musical partner have already created two hours of music in the last month and the tunes will serve as temp music during the film’s post-production and editing.
Reznor will use various string instruments and then electronically modify and layer the tracks to create something he hopes is uniquely Dragon and sounds different than anything he has ever done before.
Reznor and Ross’ score for The Social Network is a highlight in a year stuffed with great film scores. It’ll be interesting to see what the two come up with for Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and how it compares to and distinguishes itself from what Jacob Groth composed for director Niels Arden Oplev’s Sweedish adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel.
