Conflicting Reports Name Gaggle of Actress Sought For Dark Knight Rises

Casting News, News, Rumors

Conflicting reports in recent days have named quite a few different actresses as being auditioned for the reported two female roles in The Dark Knight Rises.

Collider claims sources have named Eva Green and Naomi Watts as being cast in the film as Talia al Ghul and Vicki Vale respectively. Vale is a reporter who had previously been played by Kim Basinger in Tim Burton’s first Batman movie. Talia al Ghul is the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul and is a sometimes villain, sometimes love interest for Batman.

Besides its casting news, Collider’s report also suggests there will be a new design for both the Batcave and the Batmobile.

Meanwhile, Heat Vision is reporting that Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara, Gemma Arterton and Charlotte Riley have all tested or will test for roles in the film in the next two weeks.

Both reports suggest Talia al Ghul is a character in the new film. While that would be a nice symmetry for the first film, I was still holding out hope that the third movie might introduce Catwoman, a character that had been maligned in last decade’s Halle Berry film.

The Dark Knight Rises is written by David Goyer, Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan. The film will begin shooting in May.
