Marvel’s Synergetic Shuffle: The Mighty Thor, Journey Into Mystery, The Thor Movie, And You

Media, News, Official Images

Due for release this April is Marvel Studio’s adaption of Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, and directed by Kenneth Branagh. This is a big thing for Marvel, as all of their movies have been, especially since Iron Man and its build up towards Avengers changed the way they do movies.

One thing that has not changed, however, is getting readers a front row ticket to hop the fence and start reading easily accessable comics featuring these characters. Like when Iron Man came out Marvel launched a new title called Invincible Iron Man, and gave it to writer Matt Fraction, and here we are a couple of years later and it’s the premier Iron Man title and Fraction still writes it. That new number one was to attract new readers who might be scared off by the big numbers. This time around with Thor is no different, as this April promises the release of a new number one issue.

The Mighty Thor #1, written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Olivier Coipel will be picking up on the threads of Fraction’s current run on the title, and the first arc promises to have Galactus come to devour Asgard. Thor vs the Silver Surfer.

Of course, just one title would be boring, and they have to do something with the current title so….it’s getting renamed back (again) to Journey Into Mystery (the original name of the title, as well as the name after Thor died during Onslaught up until the book was canceled and Thor was relaunched with a new number one by Dan Jurgens and John Romita Jr.), with issue #622. The creative team will be made up of the pre-Fraction Thor creative of Kieron Gillen and Doug Braithwaite, and it’s promising to feature Loki and the Asgardians as Fraction’s Fear Itself event comes into play.

And while we’re on the note of Thor, Pulse Glazer wants all of you to buy Thor: The Mighty Avenger in trade.

Anyway, April is going to be huge for the Thunder God!
