Kieron Gillen Takes Over Uncanny X-Men In April!

News

Alas, all good things must eventually come to an end, and so it goes that Matt Fraction is looking to soon be on his way out from Uncanny X-Men after a multi year run that was featured some of the best writing the franchise had seen in it’s core title in years. Filling his shoes will be Kieron Gillen, a man announced a few months ago as Fraction’s new co-writer, much the same as when a young up and coming Matt Fraction was announced as Ed Brubaker’s co-writer on the title, only to assume full writing duties within a few issues of coming on. I guess that makes this somewhat poetic, that Frac leaves the way he arrived, handing off the torch to a writer on the cusp of breaking out, with a few failed amazing titles that didn’t sell under his belt (Fraction wrote The Order, Gillen wrote S.W.O.R.D.).

The announcement came earlier tonight from Marvel’s website (in a news piece by Nexus alumni Ben Morse, no less), where there’s an interview with X-editor Nick Lowe about the creative change and what to expect, and I recommend you check it out.

Congrats to Kieron Gillen! This is a huge career boost for a very deserving writer!

And since the news partially broke through Marvel’s April solicitations, here are his Uncanny X-Men issues.
