by Chad Jorgenson on January 18, 2011

And it’s NOT Crosby or Ovechkin.

The league announced that Eric Staal and Niklas Lidstrom will be the captains for this year’s All-Star Game. Staal plays for the Carolina Hurricanes who are hosting the game. Lidstrom is having a resurgent season and looks like a strong contender for another Norris Trophy.

Staal and Lidstrom were chosen to be the captains by a player vote. The two players will be the first players to make selections in the new All-Star draft to determine the rosters for the game.
