Jeffrey Donovan Goes From Being “Burned” to Being a Kennedy

Casting News, News, Projects

Jeffrey Donovan may make his living as Michael Westen on USA’s Burn Notice, but he’s no stranger to taking the odd film project job. Having been a supporting player in films like Sleepers and Hitch, the actor got to share the screen with Angelina Jolie as a ruthless cop in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling in 2008. Now Eastwood has requested his services once again, this time playing J. Edgar Hoover’s rival Robert F. Kennedy in the Warner Bros. film, J. Edgar.

The biographical drama stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the manipulative FBI chief. The focus of the drama is the FBI director’s career beginning with the 1919-20 Palmer Raids and will include an examination of his private life as a closeted homosexual. Dustin Ian Black (Milk) penned the screenplay.

Besides DiCaprio and Donovan, the film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Naomi Watts, Judi Dench, and Josh Lucas.

Donovan recently finished directing Bruce Campbell in the Burn Notice telepic prequel, Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, which will air on April 17.
