NFL: Former New York Giant Tiki Barber Unretires

News

Former New York Giant Tiki Barber, who retired in 2007, filed paperwork with the NFL to play in the [possible] 2011 season. The 36-year-old back, after throwing coaches and teammates under the bus following his retirement, is now seeing some karmic backlash. After separating from his wife of 11 years and being dropped from NBC via his contract’s morals clause, Barber is now unable to pay off his divorce settlement and has no apparent income. Barber will need the Giants’ permission to speak with other teams.

Tiki, who has repeatedly refused to back off comments he made about the Giants, has a rather conflicted relationship with Giants’ fans. On one hand, he was the best on a mediocre team. On the other, when you’re going to throw everyone under the bus, make sure you don’t do it six months before they win the Super Bowl.
