Last week DC busted out the first wave of Flashpoint titles, and I’m not going to lie, there was some real disappointment on my part that it came across as “Fill in minis of the year”. Now today they’ve promised to reveal the rest, so are the rest of them winning enough to save the event? Or are they just as uneventful?
Scott Snyder is plotting Project Superman, and Gene Ha is drawing it. I may not know who Lowell Francis is, but Snyder and Ha? That could be an awesome creative team.
Jeff Lemire is handling the Frankenstein book? Well, everyone raves about Sweet Tooth, but his Superboy has yet to shine as anything spectacular. Maybe this is the kind of title he’ll excel on though.
Sterling Gates is writing Kid Flash! Gates is back and doing….something we all thought he was going to be doing as an ongoing!
DnA return to the DC Universe with Wonder Woman and the Furies, which looks to star Wonder Girl and Hawkgirl, and is drawn by Scott Clark
And what’s this? More DnA action as they write the Lois Lane mini? Winning!
Adam Schlagman is writing the Abin Sur mini, which I guess works out since Schlagman is an editor for the GL line, as well as Brightest Day. Who knows, maybe it’ll be like when Peter Tomasi stopped editing and started writing!
I was wondering how long until a James Robinson title was announced, and after his subpar Blackest Night tie ins, I was hoping he’d get a book that seemed more up his alley. The Outsider seems like that kind of book, as this looks like a new character, or one under such extreme reinvention that I can’t even recognize him.
Peter Milligan and George Perez’s Secret Seven finally finds confirmation, with a roster that seems to include Shade: The Changing Man, and The Enchantress.
And now DC has gone ahead and added four one shots to the list, as opposed to an eighth miniseries.
Gorilla Grodd by Sean Ryan, who I believe is the editor on Secret Six. Grodd getting some love in a Flash event makes perfect sense.
Reverse Flash by Scott Kolins and Joel Gomez? YES PLEASE!
Ollie as a war hawk who sells weapons? It’s original, to say the least. Pornsak Pichetshote is a Vertigo editor, so the tone might be right, but this one I’m really iffy on.
Mike Carlin and Rags Morales are bringing us the Canterbury Cricket…..for some reason this has my interest.
