If you watched Jimmy Kimmel last night, or if you’re like me and you just Google crap like this the next morning, then you know that Ashley H. has been announced as the next Bachelorette.
This isn’t a surprise, since the news was leaked long ago and confirmed in the form of Ashley’s unfortunate makeover for the Women Tell All special, requisite ratty hair extensions included. It is a bit of a disappointment, though.
You may remember Ashley for being the more annoying of the two Ashleys this season. She’s a dentist, or dental student, or something. She frequently second guessed her relationship with Brad. She was annoying. That pretty much sums up all I know about her.
I was hoping Chantal would get the gig, but as we learned on After the Final Rose last night, she’s happily rebounding with a guy she actually met in real life. Other than Chantal, I don’t really think anyone from Brad’s season was cut out to be the next Bachelorette. The Ashleys were annoying, Shawntel was boring, Michelle was annoying on a whole different level, and everyone else was entirely forgettable. So why recycle someone?
I’m not looking forward to this season – I’m sure just the way we heard Ali endlessly talk about how she chose a desk over love, we’ll hear Ashley whinge about how she destroyed her chance at love with low self esteem. Yet, I’ll watch. Because it’s on during the summer, it’s fun to mock (start thinking of dental puns!), and I just seem to love self-inflicted reality TV induced agony.
