Say Hello To My Little Blu-ray, Scarface Announced

Universal Home Video has formally announced that Scarface will arrive on Blu-ray on September 6th. The film stars Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robert Loggia, and F. Murray Abraham. An underworld crime epic, the depiction of Tony Montana’s (Pacino) lethal ambition has served as an inspiration to many, if for all the wrong reasons.

Having had multiple releases on the DVD format, it is finally getting the high-def treatment with newly restored picture and 7.1 audio for the first time ever. As a plus, it’s getting new exclusive bonus content that explores the film’s legacy almost three decades after its release.

Universal will also be offering fans an ultimate release which consists of the Blu-ray and a limited-run Scarface-themed humidor specially crafted by the renowned Daniel Marshall. (Total number is 1000.)

The Blu-ray itself will come a SteelBook package with ten exclusive art cards, a digital copy of the film and a DVD of the original 1932 Scarface.

The Creating — A fascinating, controversial and definitive journey through the making of the film, which began with the production being forced to leave its initial location in Florida. The Scarface Blu-ray will be presented with a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, plus English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1/DTS Surround 2.0, French DTS Surround 2.0 Mono, Spanish DTS Surround 2.0 Mono audio tracks. The SRP has not been revealed for the Blu-ray itself, but the limited-edition gift set carries a hefty price of $999.99. So I guess that means, first you get the money, then you get the cigars, then you get the Scarface humidor.
