Thiago Silva Suspended, Drug Test Sample “Inconsistent With Human Urine”

News

Its been an open secret for some time that Thiago Silva had ran into problems with his pre-fight urine test after his fight with Quinton Jackson was cancelled, his name was not on the list of fighters who were declared to have passed their drug tests at UFC 125 and the man he defeated at the event Brandon Vera was welcomed back into the UFC in anticipation of the result being quashed. Its been announced today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that the issue was to do with his drug test sample being “inconsistent with human urine”. Fighters trying to replace their urine with another substance in an attempt to beat a test is not unheard of, with Kevin Randleman being the most famous previous example. The matter will now be discussed at the commission’s April 7th hearing.
