Reports that Amir Khan vs. Paul McCloskey Will NOT Be On UK Pay Per View

News

BoxRec is reporting that Sky Sports have delivered Amir Khan an ultimatum – secure a decent undercard or your defense against European Champion Paul McCloskey will be shown on premium cable as opposed to the originally planned pay per view. While ticket sales at the Manchester Evening News Arena have been strong for the England vs. Ireland clash, Team Khan have struggled to secure a decent undercard despite working in conjunction with both Hatton Promotions and Hennessy as the original semi-main event Matthew Macklin v Khoren Gevor was cancelled and then that bout’s replacement of Hasim Rahman vs.Tyson Fury was thrown into serious doubt. The apparent threat from Sky would explain why Khan’s camp was willing to increase the proposed purse for Rahman when news surfaced that he was waivering on the deal. In the aftermath of the poorly recieved Haye vs. Harrison event and the injury hit Gr8 Britain vs. The World it looks like Sky Sports may be applying tighter quality control to its pay per view broadcasts.
