Russell Brand Joins Rock Of Ages Cast

Casting News, News, Projects

It seems Russell Brand is turning into Hollywood’s next unstoppable Juggernaut.

The comic actor has joined the cast of Rock Of Ages. A big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name will be directed Adam Shankman. Brand will play Lonny, a man who runs an ’80s-era rock club.

Shankman announced the project’s latest casting news via Twitter on Wednesday. He posted: “I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie! I see a mullet in his future…maybe a Nikki Six?”

Brand acted along side Adam Sandler in another Shankman film, Bedtime Stories.

Also starring in Ages, will be Diego Gonzalez Boneta (Pretty Little Liars), Tom Cruise (as Stacee Jaxx), Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough (Burlesque).

The production is gearing up for a May start.

If you need your Russell Brand fix now, you’re in luck. He can currently be heard in Hop as E.B., the Easter Bunny’s son, and can be seen in Arthur where he plays the titular role.

The Rock Of Ages stage musical is playing a few blocks from my house and I’ve yet to catch it. I doubt I’ll be lying up for this adaptation either. Though, the cast is interesting enough that I may rent it.
