Rex Ogle Confirms Traci 13 Headlines World Of Flashpoint, Part of Geoff Johns’ Mega-Event

News

So, it would appear that DC writers’ cryptic teases aren’t so cryptic? As part of Flashpoint Friday, we heard this from Rex Ogle:

Rex Ogle (Writer, FLASHPOINT: THE WORLD OF FLASHPOINT): I’m not spilling the beans on anything. What I will say is, the hero in my story is less renown than I think she deserves to be. She’s got this rich history with both Superman and the Teen Titans, and I was lucky enough to launch my comics career writing her. In FLASHPOINT, she’s not quite as sun-shiny as she in the DC Universe. She’s known great loss, and it has changed her.

Now, its quite clear he means Asian sorceress Traci 13 who debuted in Superman and was a member of the Coven, written by Rex Ogle, which was a back-up feature in Teen Titans.

However, DC already has Traci on the cover of July’s World of Flashpoint #2. And, while there really is no revealing solicit for issue #1, her prominence on the cover of #2 (below), the solicit for #2 (also below), and Rex’s words above make her a big player in Flashpoint and perhaps even afterwards. DC does need more diversity afterall.

World of Flashpoint #2 solicit:

FLASH QUESTION: Why is Traci 13 the most important girl in the world? Does she have the strength to do what must be done?

It also appears that her father, Doctor Thirteen, the Ghost Breaker, a long-lived DC character who debuted in 1951, will play a part in World of Flashpoint:

Rex Ogle: That’s easy. [My story is…] about a girl and her father. They’ve shared a terrible loss, and while it drives her one way, it drives him to a far darker place. In the end, she wants to save him from himself. I think a lot of people can relate since not every person agrees with choices their parents make. I certainly don’t. I mean, my parents always get me socks for Christmas.

So, are Traci 13 and her pop strong enough to lead a 3-issue mini-series? Is this new daughter-father team-up a formula for post-Flashpoint success in a series?
