Ashton Kutcher Replaces Charlie Sheen On Two And A Half Men

Casting News, News

It’s official. Ashton Kutcher is returning to TV. Kutcher, who earlier this year was in a hit movie comedy with Natalie Portman (No Strings Attached), is replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men. While actor Hugh Grant was thought of a top choice to replace the “master warlock,” Kutcher may be a better coup for the hit sit-com. With multicamera experience already from his work on That ’70s Show, Kutcher shouldn’t have much trouble getting back to his TV roots. And with more than 6.7 million followers on Twitter, you know CBS’ Leslie Moonves is loving this.

As for Hugh Grant, he was very close to negotiating a deal but pulled out unexpectedly having come to the realization that he didn’t want to do TV because of the 24 episode commitment for each season. And with Grant’s involvement the series could have extended its run another three or four seasons.

Ashton Kutcher’s role is unknown for now, but with his involvement on Two and a Half Men the show will undoubtedly continue to add to its commercial success in syndication, on DVD, and around the globe.
