DC Comics Relaunch: Bruce Wayne Will Be The Only Batman plus Detective Comics #1 & Batman #1 solicits

News

DC Source officially announced two more titles today. There have been a lot of rumors floating around, but DC has confirmed Batman and Detective Comics:

In the first BATMAN #1 since 1930, New York Times bestselling writer Scott Snyder teams up with superstar artist Greg Capullo in his DC Comics debut! In the series, Bruce Wayne once again becomes the only character taking on the Batman name.

Skitch Commentary: Love Greg Capullo’s art, but what is with the Riddler’s haircut? Seems like a pretty ridiculous choice. They should have gone for a look like the Arkham City preview images. That is a cool looking Riddler.

DC Comics’ flagship title is relaunched for the first time ever in DETECTIVE COMICS #1 by acclaimed writer/artist Tony Daniel. Marking the first time Batman will appear in a debut issue of Detective Comics, the series will find Bruce Wayne on the trail of a dangerous serial killer known only as the Gotham Ripper.

Skitch Commentary: So my take on this is that these two books will both star Bruce Wayne as Batman. Not sure that is a good idea, DC has done such a great job expanding the Batverse. Do we really need Batman in at least three books, when there are plenty of other great Batman characters available?

So right now, here’s the checklist as I see it. The only titles I am listing as confirmed are the ones DC officially announced. That said, I have seen covers images for Catwoman, Nightwing, and Teen Titans, so I would say they are pretty much definites. As soon as DC confirms, I will post them up.
