The Rager – Tough Enough, a McMahon Sighting and a Question

Columns, Top Story

The time has come to talk of many things and speaking of the Walrus, I am your portly gondolier of all things Rage and I go by the name of Chris or Colossal (which I’m still debating on whether or not if that’s a fat joke) if you’re a fan of Sir Rhetticlese the Rad. But enough of the ridiculous formalities.

Tough Enough
I haven’t spoken much on WEE’s reality show but all I really have to say is that if you didn’t watch this season, you should be tared and feathered, shunned or at least menacingly pointed at because you missed quite a show. I will say that I’m overjoyed that Andy won and he definitely who I would’ve picked at the start of things but the guy definitely won me over. I know he still has a long way to go in the ring but on Raw, he was the one that looked like he actually wanted to be there and owned the attention (minus shaking in his boots when Vince McMahon made his appearance). Whenever the inevitable DVDs come out for this, I’d highly suggest getting a copy and I really hope they keep this same format for future seasons.

Daddy of Rage
Speaking of Mr. McMahon, say what you want about the businessman but the entertainer is brilliant. I love a good McMahon sighting and I think its healthy we get those every once in a while (him making the announcement that there will be an annoucement doesn’t count). There’s not really a point to this section, I just missed the guy, he’s strut, his ridiculous yelling voice, the crowd reaction, his theme music, everything. Ok, I think I got it all out of my system now.

Anti-Rage
So Raw was all-in-all kinda boring and seeing as how the majority of my talking points come from that show, this might be a short Rager…a Ragete, if you will. But the highlight of the night for me was Stone Cold’s face when R-Heel first came out in the Confederate uniform and doing his goofy nonsense. It was the kind of reaction that said “Really? This is where we’ve come to? This is the same company I bled for?” Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a huge proponent of the new R-Heel character but the whole making fun of the south thing this past Raw was just lazy, there’s so many better things to use to make the crowd hate you. And way to go, WEE, for using the anti-south material for one of the biggest country bumpkin from right here in good ol’ North Carolina. I really hope WEE just had a big hipster moment where they knew what they were doing and did it out of sheer irony. Not that being a hipster would be make things better (just say no, kids) but at least then there would be an excuse for it.

Mick Rage
I’m not one to delve into TNA or IMPACT (or whatever they’re calling themselves to make them feel pretty) and seeing as how last time I did so was met with people being appalled that I dare know very little about the company but lets be honest I watch two hours of wrestling on Monday, 2 more on Friday, an hour of wrestling reality show on Monday and I cover Superstars for Pulse Wrestling ontop of…you know…living my life. I’m just saying out of my weekly wrestling quota, TNA is the first one to get the axe from my schedule so my bad but give me credit for trying and giving an outsider’s view.

Ok, so where was I? Oh right, Tacticle Necktie Accessories…um…I Might Pay Attention Come Tuesday (have I mentioned how much I love acronyms?). It was recently brought to light that Mick Foley will actually be leaving TNA and is widely speculated that he will rejoin WWMEE (World Wrestling Matters Entertainment Entertainment) and I really hope he at least comes back at commentating because I truly enjoyed his time doing so for Smackdown and I think he’d play off of Josh Matthews. I would be skeptical of him even coming back to the company but with Rock coming back for at least Wrestlemania and possibly other live events, it would be ridiculous to not bring back Rock N’ Sock at least once so I guess we’ll see, ay?

A Raging Question
So this past Raw, we saw Booker T’s return to in-ring action against Jack Swagger and made me think back to Booker’s return at the last Royal Rumble. While my mind stayed on that memory, my thoughts turned to the return of Kevin Nash to WEE and question came to mind. What exactly are they going to do with Nash? I know this question is months and months late but still, he came back to the Rumble, had an ok showing and a staredown with Big Show and wasn’t seen until Shawn Michaels’ induction. So just out of being curious, what is Nash’s capacity with the company? Was it just for a Rumble appearance and setting himself up for a Hall of Fame induction? Again, maybe there was some sort of announcement made that I missed and I may be completely ignorant of it all. I mean, Booker came back to become a (terrible) commentator so I guess I assumed Nash would get a position of some sort. If you know more about this than I do, feel free to share with the class.

The New Cole Era
Not having an over-bearing heel commentator is a breath of fresh air as of lately and now Cole is settling in nicely as a heel commentator within reason, although I think we can now do without seeing him on Smackdown too. My only beef, like I stated last week, Lawler is still laying it on thick on jokes at Cole’s expense and I’m more annoyed with that than anything.
In other news, Cole was all about him some twitter lately, he plugged the mess out of Mr. Ziggles’ twitter account but something doesn’t quite sit well with me about a grown man talking about twitter. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with a guy having a twitter (covering my own butt) but talking about it just seems wrong. But at least we saw Zack Ryder finally in the ring on Raw, even though it was jobbing for Kofi but its all about the small victories in life, right?

Well I believe thats all for this week’s edition of The Rager. Feel free to discuss anything above or anything else in the world you wanna rage. Click on the link in the last paragraph and hit me up on twitter or shoot me an email at cwsanders39@gmail.com, I’d love to discuss some other rages with all you Rageans. Leave some comments, feel free to tell me I’m wrong about anything, because you’re probably right. Be sure to check out the fantastic columns that’ll be dropping here on Pulse Wrestling throughout the week.
I hope you all have a great week
Chris
