Who’d have thought that statistics could change the way the game was played? That’s what “Moneyball” by Michael M Lewis attempted to explain, how a small market team like the Oakland Athletics could contend in the American League of Major League Baseball despite financial disadvantages. The concept of Moneyball is taking a modern approach to the game by using things like sabermetrics to fashion a team.
Now the book has been adapted into a film with Brad Pitt playing Billy Beane, the man behind the system, and Jonah Hill in a role based off of Paul DePodesta (Beane’s right hand man). It has a trailer, as well.
