After a moderate hit in helming The Mechanic, and having started his career with Con Air, Simon West is replacing Sylvester Stallone in the director’s chair for The Expendables 2 per Deadline Hollywood.
Production is set to begin this summer, though no word on what exactly the plot will detail this time around.
What does this mean? West has experience throughout the sort of big, action blockbuster that The Expendables ultimately is. The interesting thing will be to see what variation he takes the franchise from Stallone, who did everything but cater the original.
