Nate Marquardt Medically Suspended, Dana White ‘Disgusted’ With His Actions

News

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission has confirmed that Nate Marquardt is suspended indefinitely after failing his pre-fight medical. The commission head explained in a pre-fight press conference that Marquardt failed to comply with all the commission requirements despite being given the maximum possible time to do so. The matter had nothing to do with Marquardt struggling to make weight on his welterweight debut, with a video surfacing on NBC.com of Marquardt being under 171Ibs at a test weigh-in on Saturday.

UFC President Dana White went on Versus and made clear that he was ‘disgusted’ with Nate Marquardt. Unfortunately due to Pennsylvania’s strict HIPAA laws, neither White or the Commission can reveal what caused Marquardt to fail the medical. White was clear that he believes Marquardt has a duty to not hide behind this legal anonymity. “Nate Marquardt’s gonna have to man up and come out and tell the world why he didn’t pass his medicals,” White said. “When he does that I think everybody is going to understand why he was cut from the UFC”.

Nate Marquardt may well do just that when he joins Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour this Tuesday.
