Asian Cinema Coming to Netflix Watch Instant

News, Press Releases

Asian cinema lovers are going to be spending even more time on Netflix watch instant thanks to the addition of WELL GO USA’s library of over 2,000 titles. It was announced this morning via their facebook page that WELL GO USA, US distributor of Asian films such as Ip Man, Ip Man 2, The Man From Nowhere, and Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, has signed a multi-year content deal with Netflix that allows subscribers to stream new and catalog films.

WELL GO USA has also just planned to announce a simultaneous day and date release in the US and China of the 100th Jackie Chan film, 1911.

Homemediamagazine.com has the following statements from reps at both WELL GO and Netflix:

“This new agreement fits our expanding digital strategy and ensures our top Asian content will be exclusively available to the huge Netflix member base,” said Tony Vandeveerdonk, EVP of sales and marketing for Well Go.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based Netflix in April expanded its selection of anime titles from San Francisco-based VIZ Media.

“We’re committed to providing to our members a rich and diverse offering of TV episodes and movies from around the world,” said Lisa Nishimura, VP of content acquisition for Netflix.

Based in Plano, TX (a suburb of Dallas), WELL GO USA is also one of the key sponsors of the Asian Film Festival of Dallas. I will personally be covering the festival for Inside Pulse which will take place from July 14-21. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival and they’ve promised stellar films and events. Stay tuned, you won’t want to miss it!

Jenny is proud to be the First Lady of Inside Pulse Movies. She gives female and mommy perspective, and has two kids who help with rating family movies. (If they don't like 'em, what's the point?) She prefers horror movies to chick flicks, and she can easily hang with the guys as long as there are several frou-frou girlie drinks to be had.
