Teaser For Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Astounds, Gary Oldman Still The Man

Media, Trailers

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has all the necessary ingredients to be one of the must-see films of the fall. It’s got good source material (a novel from John Le Carre), a talented director (Let the Right One In‘s Tomas Alfredson) and a cast that makes you go wow!

The international teaser trailer has just sprung up online, and though it’s only seventy seconds, it uses the time to great effect, setting the mood and allowing us to see all the major players, specifically the character played by Gary Oldman.

Set in the 1970s, at the height of the Cold War, and revolving around the search for a mole in the upper echelons of the British secret service, the film is led by Gary Oldman. He’s joined by recent Oscar winner Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciarán Hinds, Toby Jones, and John Hurt.

Gary Oldman is considered one of the best actors but amazingly he’s never been nominated for an Oscar. Having had memorable turns as a vampire (Dracula), a pimp (True Romance), a dirty cop (The Professional), and as famous/infamous historical figures (Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK and Beethoven in Immortal Beloved), he’s done it all just about. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy may be just the film that sees him get that long-overdue Oscar nomination.

The film, which will have its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, will open in the U.K. on September 16th. It will reach our shores on November 18th. Watch the trailer below.
