This week the online giant has selected The Prisoner: The Complete Series as its Blu-ray Gold Box deal of the week. The 17-episode British series, which ran from 1967-1968, has gone on to obtain cult status. Starring Patrick McGoohan as Number 6, a former top-level British former spy who is held prisoner in a mysterious seaside village where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. And you thought Michael Westen getting a burn notice was rough.
The Blu-ray arrives as a five-disc set and contains all seventeen episodes with restored video elements for 1080p and features their original monaural soundtracks. The set is very feature-laden with a feature-length documentary, various featurettes, original edits for the “Arrival” and “Chimes of Big Ben” episodes, trailers and over 1200 production images.
