Footloose To Cut Loose On Blu-ray

Disc Announcements, News

Footloose is one of those seminal dance classics from the ’80s placed alongside Dirty Dancing. It was also a movie that proved that Kenny Loggins was the man when it came to ’80s movie soundtracks. Besides contributing three songs for the Footloose soundtrack, he recorded multiple tracks for Caddyshack and Top Gun.

Now that Footloose is getting a remake (to be released October 14th), Paramount Home Entertainment is capitalizing by releasing yet another special edition release of the famed film on DVD. But the good news is that it will make its debut on Blu-ray. And unlike the cash grab that is the new Ferris Bueller Blu-ray release for consumers who don’t know any better (it’s essentially the same disc, but with a special geographical outline of Chicago destinations that Ferris, Cameron and Simone visited), at least Footloose comes with new cast interviews, Kevin Bacon’s original screen test, and other features.

The deluxe edition will arrive on September 27, 2011. The DVD and Blu-ray will boast new supplemental features including new interviews with Kevin Bacon and Sarah Jessica Parker, a tribute to Chris Penn, a costume montage and a first-ever look at Kevin Bacon’s screen test. The discs also feature a commentary by Kevin Bacon and a second commentary by producer Craig Zadan and writer Dean Pitchford. The Blu-ray also includes the previously released featurettes “Footloose: A Modern Musical” and “Footloose: Songs That Tell A Story”.

The Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, French 2.0 Dolby Surround, Spanish Mono and Portuguese Mono with English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.

Artwork to follow, but for now let’s hear it for the boy.
