Police Story was the prime cop show of the ’70s. Sure there was The Rookies, McCloud, S.W.A.T. and Columbo.Police Story had the advantage of a rotating cast of leads. It’s kinda like Cops in that function. The series lasted five seasons. Fans of cop shows have been asking for years about the DVD release. There’s finally an answer. Police Story: Season One will be released on September 6th courtesy of Shout! Factory.

Police Story: Season One arrives as six-disc set and will feature 21 original episodes from 1973-1974, the TV pilot film, Movie of the Week and a newly produced interview with series creator Joseph Wambaugh, the ex-cop-turned-author.

Police Story is an anthology series detailing the lives of LAPD officers in a collection of realistic and gritty accounts of what it meant to be a cop in 1970s Los Angeles. The series became the archetype for many critically acclaimed shows that followed, including Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue and Homicide: Life on the Street.
