Neveldine/Taylor Eyeing Crank 3? Efren Ramirez Thinks So

Media, Video

One of the beauties of the San Diego Comic Con is that sometimes non comic book related films get discussed in as much depth as you can at a convention. Efren Ramirez, who played Kaylo in Crank and Venus in Crank: High Voltage but more famous for playing Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite, spilled the beans.

What does this mean? It sounds like an absolutely ridiculous idea at first. Does the world need Crank 3: Crank Harder any more that it needed the sequel? Probably not. But here’s the thing. The sequel was as much fun as the first, and was about as profitable, so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. It was relatively inexpensive to make and Hollywood is very friendly towards sequels; if Mean Girls can get a DTV sequel than another theatrical sequel to Crank isn’t out of the equation.

The x-factor here is Jason Statham. A Crank film without him in it (or as a cameo) would feel like a Wall Street sequel with only a cameo by Bud Fox: incomplete.

What do you think? Is Crank 3: Crank That Soldier Boy a good idea? Or was one sequel enough? Let us know below.
