UFC Sends Message To Golden Glory With Fresh Round Of Cuts

News

Fresh off Alistair Overeem’s glorious two-match, four year reign as Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion being cut short when the champion was cut from the organization the bad blood between Overeem’s camp and Zuffa has intensified with the shock news that Strikeforce’s Marloes Coenen and  Valentijn Overeem as well as the UFC’s Jon Olav Einemo have been cut from the organization. The news was released by Martijn de Jong, head coach at Golden Glory and trainer to all four former Zuffa fighters. No word from Zuffa but it certainly seems that much like the organisation’s threat to cut all fighters at America Kickboxing Academy in 2008 over a dispute over image rights their in no mood to brook dissent from their charges. Attention must now turn to the future of Grand Prix semi-finalist Sergei Kharitonov who is a member of Golden Glory and has agreed to fight on the same United Glory card in October that features Overeem.
