Peter Dinklage as MODOK? Captain America Sequel Aiming Low

Casting News, News, Rumors

With over $300 million in worldwide box office grosses and sterling reviews, a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger seems probably. But where to go next?

The film’s writer Christopher Markus has a big idea in mind.

“I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK but nobody seems to be on my side at the momentum,” Markus told the L.A Times Hero Complex. He even has a great actor in mind for MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing): Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.

“I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK. If he came around the corner and you saw him floating there you would be terrified. It would be amazing.”

What does it mean? While one imagines that any Captain America film would probably focus on his World War 2 escapades, which Marvel is keen on, Captain America in the modern world with a crazy villain like MODOK would be a great juxtaposition. Captain America is more muscle than mental, with MODOK being the opposite, and Dinklage is a great actor capable of drama and comedy. One imagines with his sense of comic timing (see the British version of Death at a Funeral for Dinklage’s comedy chops) would be able to make the character the sort of mad, scenery-chewing fun that a Captain America villain would need to be memorable.

He is also a dwarf, which would make it easier for CGI purposes as well.
