Jason Reitman’s Young Adult Gets Creative Paperback Poster

Media

Jason Reitman’s fourth outing in the director’s chair offers much darker material, as compared to Juno or Thank You For Smoking, than what his fans may be used to. That may explain why he’s playing this one close to the chest, by not revealing it at festivals in Venice or Telluride.

The fabulous teaser one-sheet over at THR includes an illustrated Charlize Theron passed out with a 40oz bottle in hand.

Young Adult sees Reitman re-teaming with Juno scribe Diablo Cody. The story revolves around Theron who, as a divorced young-adult writer (hence the poster’s design), returns to her Minnesota home to purse her now-married ex-boyfriend (Patrick Wilson). Patton Oswalt plays an old high-school classmate who acts as Theron’s drinking buddy and sounding board to her pity party. Reitman regular J.K. Simmons narrates.

Considering the film’s tone it makes sense for Paramount Pictures to lighten the mood with its marketing campaign. This creative poster is a great start. Definitely one of the best one-sheets of 2011.

Young Adult arrives in theaters on December 9th.
