One Punch Knockout Theater: Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia at UFC 102

News, Top Story, Video

Coming into UFC 102, Demian Maia was a highly-touted 11-0 fighter marching on the path to an inevitable date with UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva. After UFC 102, he was known for being “the dude that Nate Marquardt nearly beheaded.”

At the very beginning of the contest, Maia decided to step hard at Marquardt for a front head kick, but Nate stepped in with a big straight right that put Maia out.

Maia went on two lose (hell, he was humiliated by Anderson Silva in Abu Dhabi) and has gone 3-2 since the Marquardt fight. Marquardt, however, is no longer in UFC after a series of ridiculous events.
