NFL 2011 Week 2 Thoughts and Commentary: Cincinnati Bengals – 22, Denver Broncos – 24

Cincinnati  Bengals – 22, Denver Broncos – 24

Rhett Davis: The Broncos barely held on to their lead over the Bengals.  Willis McGahee had a great game running for 101 yards and a TD as well as Eric Decker who received 113 yards and 2 TD passes from Kyle Orton.  The Broncos also received some more injuries during the game bringing their total to 9 injured players.

Grey Scherl: The Broncos and the Bengals. If I had to rate the five worst managed teams in the league, these two would be up on the list. Both teams are complete messes, but at least the Bungles can write it off as a rebuilding year with rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green being the core of their offense along with veteran running back Cedric Benson. The Broncos, on the other hand, have to deal with a shoddy team and a vocal angry fanbase that all seem to want Tim Tebow. John Fox needs to get things together if he wants his job to last longer than a year. In either case though, I doubt either team is going to be making any real impact in their divisions. Especially the Broncos, who are an insult to declining teams.

Daniels: Not a lot to learn here.  Two pretty bad teams in an ugly-off.

Glazer: Willis McGahee and Kyle Orton were both good, but look at the Bengals playing teams tough!  They’re bad, sure, but working hard and competing hard. Andy Dalton looked great, though a lot of that was the Broncos injuries mounting.  Honestly, if the Bengals are playing you this tough, you’re a bad team.  The Broncos might as well see what they have with the kid quarterbacks.  Orton is good, but the team isn’t, and Orton should be good enough to get a decent draft pick back from, say the Vikings or some such team that feel they’re a QB away.
